Verlosung - The Tunics

Die Band The Tunics hat sich freundlicherweise kurz  vor ihrem Tourstart durch Deutschland die Zeit genommen, und uns ein paar Interview-Fragen beantwortet. Das Resultat könnt ihr nachfolgend lesen:

Can you please introduce yourself to our readers that don't know your band?

Hey, we're The Tunics. We are made up 4 members - Joe - Vocals/Guitar. Scott - Vocals/Bass. James - Percussion/Keys. Simon- Drums/Percussion.

What was the most wonderful gig you ever played?

We've played some really special gigs in our time in The Tunics, but the gig that is most special to us was our headline slot at Lido in Berlin. It is the biggest headline show that we have performed. We're looking to top that in our forthcoming tour of Germany though.

Where would you absolutely love to play?

We have never played in North America, so that's a continent that we'd love to take our music to. New York is wonderful city so that would be really special. Being from the United Kingdom, we'd love to headline a major festival there, like Glastonbury, but we know that we have a lot of work to do until then. Germany has some great festivals like Hurricane and South Side festival and we'd love to play them.

You have played in Germany before, so what do you think about the scene in Germany?

The German music scene is extremely healthy, and we've supported by some really great German acts each time that we have performed there. It feels like the arts in general are very important to you and therefore it's allowed to grow and it'll keep growing.

What is your favourite book?

We all have different favourites. Scott's favourite is between Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. Joe's favourite book is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. James' favourite is Rainmaker by John Grisham. Simon - The Bible.

Which Beatles song deserves a decent cover by you?

We had an enormous argument about this! We all had a huge difference of opinion. Joe thinks it's In My Life by The Beatles, but most poignantly covered by Johnny Cash before he died. That is too impossible a question to answer! There are so many that we would love to cover but would only ruin. Maybe you should let us know what song you think would be most suitable.

Which TV show is essential for you?

There are many great television shows but from the perspective of being in a band, the most important to watch is Peep Show or The Office. They both include a struggling musician...

Where/ in which city would you like to live?

We've rather taken to Berlin in the past couple years so that would a nice place to live for a while. New York would be amazing. We haven't got to the stage where want to live in country, just yet.

What would you be today if you had not become a musician?

There really was no other option. We all had other routes that would've ended up somewhere involved in music. Whether that be with James and Simon's music degrees. Scott's guitar building qualifications. Joe might've taken a longer route round.

The greatest musical genius (dead or alive)?

Greatest musical genius - Scott - Johnny Cash. James - Beethoven. Joe - Lennon/McCartney.  Simon - Brian May.

Maybe you've been asked that a lot of times before, but how did you choose your name of the band?

We have been asked many, many times before! It's named after a military jacket.

What are your plans for the (near) future?

To keep touring and keep releasing albums until we take over the world. And to keep touring and keep releasing albums until we've taken over another world. And so on.

Thanks a lot to The Tunics for answering these questions and we wish you a lot of success on your forthcoming tour!
