DJ FOOD aka STRICTLY KEV vom Label Ninja Tune ist ja seit langem bekannt für seine außergewöhnlichen Mixe, wie z.B. sein Raiding The 20th Century Mix, seine Kraftwerk-Cover-Mixe und viele weitere äußerst interessante Zusammenstellungen! Nun hat er sich mit DJ CHEEBA und DJ MONEYSHOT zusammen getan, um dem Album Paul's Boutique von den BEASTIE BOYS Tribut zu zollen.
Das Remake beinhaltet alle Original-Samples des Albums und viele weitere Fundstücke, die sie zusammen getragen haben. Seitdem die Radioshow letzten Monat bei der wöchentlich stattfindenden SOLID STEEL RADIOSHOW gespielt wurde, ist sie bereits 70000 weitere Male angehört worden.
Insgesamt haben die 3 DJs an dem Tribute 3 Jahre lang an rund 150 Songs gearbeitet, um dieses bahnbrechende Sampling-Album zu kreieren, getauft haben sie es auf den Namen CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A 3-WAY-MIX.
Ihr Tribut in Form eines Remixes und einer Neu-Interpretation mit allen Original-Samples plus Acapellas, Interviews der Zeit und die Stimmen der BEASTIE BOYS selbst aus Videos und anderen Quellen ist ebenso als Nachruf auf MCA aka ADAM YAUCH zu verstehen, der im Mai diesen Jahres verstorben ist - RIP! Da war der Mix zur Hälfte fertig...
