Die New-Romantic-Gruppe Spandau Ballet, gegründet Ende der 1970er Jahre, stammt aus dem Londoner Vorort Islington. Tony Hadley (Gesang), Gary Kemp (Gitarre,Gesang), Steve Norman (Percussion, Saxophon), John Keeble (Schlagzeug) und Martin Kemp (Bass) nannten sich zunächst "The Makers". Sie änderten den Namen nach einer Berlin-Reise in Spandau Ballet, nach dem alliierten Militärgefängnis in Berlin-Spandau. Dahinter verbarg sich aber kein politischer Ansatz, im Gegenteil, die Gruppe gab sich zu Beginn ihrer Karriere betont unpolitisch. Read more on Last.fm
